American depository receipts of European stocks were 0.8% higher at 138.35 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Tuesday morning. Gainers in Continental Europe were led by Oasmia Pharmaceutical (OASM), a Sweden-based pharmaceutical company, 2.0% higher, followed by Deutsche Bank – Global Registered Shares (DB), up by 1.9% and energy company Total (TOT), up by 1.8%. Banco Bilabo Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), a Spanish financial group, was 1.7% higher.
In the UK, oil and gas production company (BP) was 3.3% higher, followed by Barclays Bank (BCS), up by 2.1% and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), 1.8% higher. British American Tobacco (BTI) was also up by 1.8%. Decliners in Continental Europe were led by Sequans Communications (SQNS), a French developer of chipset solutions, down by 12%, followed by CGG (CGG), a manufacturer of geophysical equipment, down by 2.3% and DBV Technologies (DBVT), a French clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company. 1.5% lower. Cellectis (CLLS), a French genome engineering company, was 1.3% lower.
