Viacom said Friday that it has entered into a multi-year content partnership with Tyler Perry, a writer, director and producer.
Under the terms of the deal, Perry will produce approximately 90 episodes annually of original drama and comedy series for BET and other Viacom networks, while Viacom will have exclusive licensing rights on the content. Viacom will also have exclusive distribution rights to Perry’s short-form video content, and Paramount Pictures will have exclusive “first look” rights on any new feature film concepts from Perry. The agreement takes effect immediately and will run through 2024. Shares were 1.4% higher in recent morning trade.
